GENERAL FAULTS FOR ALL CAT BREEDS (FCCVic)


DISQUALIFYING FAULTS

  • Narrow, twisted jaw
  • Monorchid or cryptorchid (entire adult male)
  • White locket or belly spot/s on exhibits whose standard does not include the white spotting gene
  • Abnormal number of toes
  • Exhibit which has been declawed
  • Entropion
  • Tranquilised exhibit
  • Female exhibit obviously in kitten or lactating queen (with no kittens present)
  • Cosmetic alteration to any part of an exhibit
  • Obvious lack of good health

    AWARDS MUST BE WITHHELD

  • Abnormal structure of the skull pertaining to the particular breed
  • Non-conformity of eye colour as described in individual standards
  • Permanent squint
  • Abnormal angulation of the canine teeth or a protruding tongue
  • Clearly visible undershot or overshot jaw NB: Jaws should not need to be, and must not be, opened to detect faults relating to this area
  • Fixed deviation of sternum in adult exhibits
  • Clearly visible kink in tail

    AWARDS SHOULD BE WITHHELD

  • Reduced nostril aperture which restricts normal breathing
  • Odd-sized eyes
  • Tail abnormality at any point. However, a calcification deposit at the end of the tail, without a change of angle of tail structure, may be permitted
  • Obvious lack of good coat condition
  • Non-conformity of coat colour as described in individual standards

    FURTHER FAULTS FOR INDIVIDUAL BREEDS AND VARIETIES OF COLOURS ARE INCLUDED IN INDIVIDUAL STANDARDS.
