Michael Sheedy and Bridget Doyle

Preface by Jenny Fawcett Note. this information is still under research and should not be accepted as strictly accurate unless confirmed by official sources: Bridget Doyle, widow, married Michael Sheedy of Binalong (NSW) in 1881. Michael is believed to be the same Michael who had previously married m Margaret McIntyre. Michael is the son of John Sheedy and Mary Dinan.John Sheedy was from Kilfinnane region of LImerick, and had been transported to New South Wales aboard the Mangles, his wife Mary followed him out (aboard the Andromeda) with the younger children Michael,Ellen and Mary. A few months earlier the elder of his sons, Thomas, Roger and John, had arrived also as emigrants to NSW (per Blenheim. Michael, Thomas, and John Sheedy lived in the Yass region. John died at Frogmore, and Thomas at Binalong. It is known that Michael Sheedy, son of John, married Margaret McIntyre at Yass, that they had three children,(born Yass) and that Margaret died a tragic death in 1859 in Victoria,at the Woolshed goldfield region. On the death certificate of Michael, the only spouse mentioned is Margaret McIntyre. But we now have a marriage certificate for a Bridget Doyle (widow) to Michael Sheedy (widower) at Binalong in 1861, which suggests that Michael may have remarried. Michael's son Rody Sheedy was the informant on his father's death certificate. Was there a particular reason why he did not list his father's second marriage, if indeed it is he who married Bridget Doyle? Or was there a second Michael Sheedy in the Binalong/Yass/Lambing Flat region.? The marriage certificate reveals that on the 29th August 1861, Michael Sheedy (a widower) married Bridget Doyle (widow) at St Augustine's Church, Yass. Martin's occupation was given as Farmer, and he lived at Binalong, his bride, Bridget, was a housekeeper and was living at Pudman Creek. The witnesses for the marriage were Michael Lehan and Ann Curran. Michael Sheedy signed the certificate in his own hand, but his wife Bridget marked her signature with a (x).The officiating minister was Thos.F.O'Neill. Is this the same Michael Sheedy who had previously married Margaret McIntyre? and if so, why is Bridget Doyle not listed on Michael's death certificate. (Michael Sheedy, husband of Margaret McIntyre, died at Young, on the 1st of June 1880.He was born c1824, in Kilfinane, Limerick.). The following possibly relates to the death of Bridget Sheedy, formerly Boyle, (maiden name not known to the author as yet). "Yass Courier. edition date May 20th 1865. Wednesday. "Died, on the 15th inst., at her residence Back Creek, Burrangong, BRIDGET, wife of Mr Michael Sheedy, leaving a husband and ten children to deplore their loss." If this is indeed Bridget Sheedy, formerly Doyle, then the ten children are either all DOYLES by surname, or a mix of her step-children (3 Sheedys) and her own children (7 Doyles?) We are awaiting a copy of her death certificate to see what information this can further provide.
