Michael Sheedy and Margaret Doherty
formerly of Co Limerick, next of Wigan (Eng) and finally of Fremantle Western Australia Preface by Jenny Fawcett I am indebted to Nigel Sheedy for his kindness in supplying research material and family history information in relation to his ancestor Michael Sheedy of Fremantle. Michael Sheedy, son of Thomas Sheedy and Margaret McGrath, was born c 1840 in county Limerick, Ireland (according to the information supplied on his death certificate). This certificate also states that Michael married in Wigan, England when of c27 years of age (so c1867).It is not yet known what prompted Michael to move to England, or if his parents also migrated to there.Nor is it known yet what prompted him to migrate to Western Australia around 1895. Research into this family is still being undertaken. Michael Sheedy's death certificate (1920) states that he had been 25 years in Western Australia, so he arrived c 1895. Michael Sheedy died on the 8th November 1920, and was buried at the Fremantle roman catholic cemetery the following day. His final resting place is marked with a gravestone.
