Patrick Keogh Sheedy married Mary Theresa Gaffney in 1863
at Hospital,Co Limerick.
Mary was the daughter of Francis Gaffney,(publican and
farmer) and his second wife Ellen Hayes.
Mary's father, Francis Gaffney, had lived formerly at
Kilmallock before moving to Hospital.
Mary Sheedy [nee Gaffney] had two stepbrothers [+] who
had previously come to Australia, and family oral history
indicates that either one or both of the brothers were at,
and took an active part in, the Eureka Stockade rebellion
in 1854.
Francis, one brother, is alledged to have been wounded in
the stand.
Patrick Keogh Sheedys' arrival in Australia has not
yet been determined.

Mary and Patrick were seperated by 1894.
History:
Patrick Sheedy emigrated to Victoria prior to Nov 1864.
In c1866, Patrick,his wife Mary and son Francis Timothy sailed
for Sydney where Patrick resumed his occupation of draper.
By 1869 the family had moved to Newcastle, the port city of
the Hunter Valley, where Patrick became the manager of a firm
of drapers.
In 1873 he established his own successful business in a Hunter
Street store in partnership with a Patrick O'Leary. This
business closed in 1876 and Patrick then became a publican
at the Sailors Arms Hotel in Carrington. [then called Bullock
Island].
This business ended in 1879, at which time Patrick's wife Mary
developed TB. In 1879 Patrick's five daughters were placed in
an orphanage in SIngleton and Pat and two surviving sons moved
to Sydney where be became a floor manager in the Anthony
Horden's Department Store.
Patrick's family were reunited in Sydney in 1882, but in the
next three years, two daughters (Margaret and Johanna] and
their mother (Mary) died. In this period the family lived
at Francis Street Glebe.
In 1888 Patrick remarried the widow of a policeman, Mary Ann
Turner,but which time he had a business in Ultimo.
Patrick and Mary seperated by 1894.
Patrick Sheedy died in 1901.
