NSW. 2089 ] is not a descendant of Thomas Sheedy but is particularly interested in him and his family, and has produced a book on the emigrants who arrived per Aliquis and she has been instrumental in determining that Thomas Sheedy, who married Catherine Costello, is NOT the son of John Sheedy per Mangles. Notes * = sighted original record. GR-Gaol Record. PD= Postal Directories - ie..Wises, Ballieres etc. SA = "Poverty to Promise - Mounteagle Emigrants on the Aliquis" by Chris O'Mahony and Valerie Thompson.[latter a descendent] ** Thomas Sheedy per Aliquis was a Monteagle Immigrant, and one of the employers of these immigrants to Australia was William Rutledge, who was a substantial land owner at Towerhill. {Vict} His brother, Thomas Rutledge, was a substantial landowner at Queanbeyan, {NSW} where William also owned major landholdings, and it is believed that several Sheedy family members have been in the Towerhill region through this Rutledge connection.Thomas Sheedy is believed to have been at Towerhill in 1854,possibly in connection with Patrick Sheedy Nicholas Ivers, husband of another of the Sheedy girls, was also at Queanbeyan, and was later [1851] the mailrider at Warrnambool [near Towerhill]. It is believed that was enabled by the fact that Thomas Rutledge in Queanbeyan had the mail run from NSW to Melbourne, and his brother William Rutledge had the contracts for the mail from Melbourne to the South Australian border. There are other people in the Towerhill region who originated from Queanbeyan, including the Murnane family.
