Timothy Sheedy. bc 1782 Co Limerick.
Physical description in 1832.
"5 feet 7 inches, dark ruddy complexion ( a little pockpitted)
Dark brown hair mixed with grey.."
Timothy Sheedy is alledged by Sid Sheedy to be one of six brothers
who were transported to Australia. The five other brothers were
James Sheedy per Tellicherry
John Sheedy per Mangles
Michael Sheedy per Earl St Vincent
Patrick Sheedy per Marquis of Wellington
George Sheedy per Southworth
Details in regard to Timothy's spouse in Ireland remain unknown at this point
in time, as also regards any children that he might have had with his Irish
spouse.
Timothy's Certificate of Freedom in 1832 states that Timothy was born in 1782
and was a native of county Limerick.

1809 March. Timothy Sheedy trialled in Limerick
Timothy's convict record records that he
was trialled in March 1809 at Co Limerick
and received a sentence of 7 years.
(can this be obtained from Ireland?)
No convict number on his records.
1811 July 2nd Timothy Sheedy arrived in NSW having
been transported to NSW per Providence
Sid. Sheedy recorded that Timothy received a 7 year
sentence for failing to give information about
political objectors in Ireland
He was assigned to Mrs Rowley of Bankstown[^p50]
Log of Logs+ shows that the Providence left
London - Cork-Falmouth on the 21st of Nov 1810,she was a
convict transport of 649 tons, under the command of Andrew
Barclay amd went in convoy to Teneriffe and Rio before finally
arriving at Sydney on the 2nd of July 1811 with 136 male and
38 female prisoners.
A Surgeon's Journal for this voyage is available through the
AJCP (Reel no 1626)
1817 Sept 1st. Timothy Sheedy arrived back in Sydney?
after having served his seven year sentence (Where?)
and was now a free man. [^p59]
1818 Sept 10
A Timothy Sheedy of Liverpool [not stated if definitely
per Providence] is on a list of persons to
recieve grants of land in 1818

1819? Sid Sheedy claims that Timothy [per Providence]
was granted 31 acres in port 41 Parish of Melville
near Cabramatta. probably the same as for 1818 above.[^p62]
1820 Sept 18
A Timothy Sheedy [not definitely stated per
Providence ] is on a list of persons for whom
grants of land have been handed over to the Surveyor
General for delivery

A Timothy Sheedy is listed in reports of prisoners tried
at Court of Criminal Jurisdiction.Not stated definitely
this Timothy per Providence

A Timothy Sheedy of Prospect [not stated definitely
per Providence is on a list of persons receiving
an assigned convict

Sept 29 - Nov 5. Timothy Sheedy and re his
assigned servant Timothy Wall [not stated definitely
per Providence.

1825 March
Sid Sheedy's claimed that Timothy Sheedy's hut
was searched and in his absence a handkerchief was
found belonging to Charles Smith,who in Feb had
accused John Watts and William Ryan of robbing him.
Timothy was charged and sentenced to death, but offered
a pardon if he gave information as to the leaders of
the political group [ISUI?]. Timothy gave no information
and was transported to Norfolk Island for 7 years.[^p73]

Macquarie Island - JF
April 17 - Sydney Gazette
Timothy Sheady was indicted for having goods in his
possession, the property of the crown, knowing the
same to be stolen - Acquitted.
July 6
Timothy Sheedy,per Providence 1811
sentenced to death. On return of prisoners tried before
the Supreme Court of New South Wales

"The following prisoners received sentence -
John Wallis, William Ryan and Timothy Sheedy -
for Highway Robbery on Charles Smith - Sentence of Death".
Aug 16. Convicted for receiving.sentence of
death commuted to transportation to Port Macquarie
for seven years. Listed in Return of Prisoners tried
and sentenced by the Supreme Court

Timothy is listed as having received a Certificate
of Freedom

Sept. Sid Sheedy states that Timothy was
back in Sydney from Norfolk Island after serving
seven years. By this time he had his right eye
blinded, all his front teeth knocked out, and his
jaw broken and set crooked. Sid's source states as
Timothy's certificate of freedom. [^p83]
Timothy claimed that his face was belted and broken
by a rifle butt. [^p83]

The Certificate of Freedom was issued on the 19th Sept 1832,
and records that Timothy Sheedy "..was originally tried at Limerick
in March 1809 and sentenced to seven years transportation..")
The Certificate states that Timothy Sheedy had arrived per Providence
(1),Master Barclay, in 1811.Timothy was a native of Co Limerick,by
trade he was a labourer, and and been convicted at the Sydney Supreme
Court on the 15th August 1825 for Recieving stolen property. He was
then given a year sentence. He year of birth was given as 1782, he
was described as 5 feet 7 inches, had a dark ruddy complexion " a
little pockpitted..". His hair was dark brown mixed with grey.
'General Remarks' show that Timothy had lost nearly all the front
teeth in upper jaw, and had swelling under the right jaw..."
